"Girls Night Out" Piece

Girl's Night Out
This piece is a "Sex and the City" inspired piece. It was done using watercolor paints and small to medium sized brushes. I drew the piece with pencil first, then used the watercolors. The piece shows a black heel and a pink cocktail. The shading is used to accent the cocktail. I mixed a few colors to give the paper an off-white color. I felt that the piece was naked against a bright white background.

My Interpretation and Feel of the Piece:
While doing this piece, I imagined a group of girlfriends getting together and just painting the town red. They are at a hotspot in Manhattan, sipping on pink cocktails and not having a care in the world. One of them is celebrating a promotion. Another is celebrating the beginning of a new and exciting relationship. The piece represents fun, class, and a positive, carefree environment.

Introduction

Greetings everyone, and welcome to my blog. My name is Shauna, and I am a freelance writer and artist. My income is earned by online writing, but, now I am broadening my horizons and looking to set up a gallery of my work, my interpretations, and where you can buy my pieces.

A little about my artwork:
My art work is based on how I am feeling at the moment. Sometimes I do draw and paint still life. Other times, I am just letting go of inner turmoil. My art may not make sense to a lot of people, but, it is something that helps me during stressful times.

Favorite mediums:
I am an artist that loves to get down and dirty when doing art. If I finish a piece and I have charcoal or paint all over me, it is a job well done. With that said, my favorite mediums are charcoal and paint.
Since it has been a while since I have done any kind of painting, I am starting myself off with doing watercolor pieces. Once I feel comfortable doing painting on canvases, I will be sharing those with the world.

Where you can buy my artwork:
I am in the process of opening accounts with sites like Cafepress, so I can put my art up for sale. Once I have those online stores up and ready, I will be linking to them. Each one of my pieces has a copyrighted signature on them. I will press charges against (and sue) anyone who steals my work. I have an extreme hatred for people that steal other peoples' work.

Aside from that, I hope you enjoy my pieces. If you have any questions, please comment below. I am more than happy to answer any questions you have in regards to my pieces.

Sincerely,
Shauna
